Brand identity, print design and packaging design for a Seaweed Farm in the Isle of Skye.
Originally, our client wanted design help for some labels. After a discussion, we felt we could help them on a much deeper level if we worked with them to develop their brand identity. So what started as a print design, soon became a wider and exciting brand identity project.
We wanted the client’s logo to say much more about their brand. Something that was elegant, and could be used on future products and still be relevant. Our first suggestion was encouraging the client to alter their name slightly, to Kelp Crofters, for better audience engagement.
With the seaweed’s form and colour as inspiration, we searched for an attractive organic font to suggest the wafting golden plant forms. Instead of shying away from the seaweed’s unusual colour, we embraced it, incorporating it into the typography; weaving it in and out of the other letterforms, like the movement in a seaweed forest. Encircling everything is a study rope, which is a key component of how the plant is harvested at sea.
Once we had the logo created we went on to design the labels for their product ranges.
